Steelmaker presents innovations in Strenx high-strength structural steel for equipment design

Next Thursday (the 24th), Swedish steelmaker SSAB will present innovations in high-strength structural steels for industry, highlighting crane designs that use the material and the benefits of having lighter equipment without compromising its strength.

Led by SSAB's technical development manager, Leopoldo Torres, the free webinar “Weight reduction, increased load capacity and operational safety with the use of Strenx structural steel in cranes” will show examples of applications and projects using Strenx steel, manufactured by the steelmaker.

The event covers the advantages the material offers in processing, thanks to the advanced consistency of its mechanical properties, which supports greater repeatability of process parameters.

According to the company, high-strength steels make it possible to reduce the weight of cranes and other lifting applications without compromising their strength or safety, while also reducing fuel consumption and making it possible to lift loads to greater heights and distances.

“A higher strength-to-weight ratio means better load capacity, as well as savings in material costs and construction lead times, due to lower use of raw materials and processing, such as welding,” says Torres.

“On top of that, a steel that is simple to fabricate, with no rework on the production line, thanks to its high consistency of mechanical properties, can become a great partner in product lines,” he concludes.
