The metalworking industry is well known for working with a wide variety of metals. Today, both in Brazil and abroad, due to the great increase in technologies found in computers, lighting, air conditioning and other electronic equipment, there are more and more metalworking companies focused on cooling solutions through heat sinks.
To help these companies increase their day-to-day productivity, it was recently found that keeping durable parts such as ball bearings and machines under constant stress, for example, can be beneficial for increasing productivity and, on top of that, reducing the need for machine maintenance.
The use of oil to make machining run more smoothly and to lubricate machine components is still necessary, but if the machine model in question allows oil to be added while it is running, downtime for maintenance will be even shorter.
The use of special bearings to improve machine rotation is also becoming quite common, as it appears to be delivering satisfactory results.
Understanding the idea better
To understand it better, we need to start from the beginning. Brazil is among the largest steel producers in the world and, according to EPE, the country’s metallurgy sector is also considered the largest industrial consumer of energy.
So, for companies to thrive in a highly competitive market, having good-quality equipment for machining processes and for delivering the final part to the customer is essential.
As a result, many companies began to notice a common component capable of maximizing the service life of other equipment while also providing good rotation for machining operations.
This very specific component is the new shielded bearing made of machined steel, which has an innovative design that makes it less prone to wear and, for this reason, can work efficiently under constant stress.
The use of these bearings became even more viable when it was also found that the greater the durability of rolling mill equipment, the lower the costs involved in producing batches of machined parts. Consequently, this can directly influence factory performance.
Increasing the company’s productivity
By combining the use of the bearings mentioned above with durable, long-lasting rolling mill equipment, it is possible to increase productivity naturally.
After all, these bearings that can operate under extreme conditions will be able to withstand all the “punishment” of the heavy work in a metalworking plant, also increasing production output, since machine downtime for maintenance will be infrequent, making it possible to gain time in production.
It is worth noting that, in addition to having quality equipment, it is also necessary to have good practices and efficient processes that can increase production and reduce part machining time.
A small example can be seen in the practices used by metalworking companies focused on machining heat sinks.
CNC machines play a very important role in these factories, where their function is to machine the product with millimetric precision. When a tougher metal bar needs to be machined, the machine must be adjusted to the right rotation speed so that tools do not break during machining.
Using a bearing with this new technology, capable of withstanding high temperatures and rotation speeds inside the CNC machine, can provide more precise machining with less chance of the tool breaking, which would result in the loss of both the metal and the drill bit.
Based on all the information presented so far, it is possible to combine the two ideas, achieve a considerable increase in productivity and also drastically reduce the maintenance required on the machines in a metalworking plant.
